The Clients list, Contacts list, Client Funds list, Fees list, Costs list, Payments list, Write Offs list, and Statement Manager are List windows that contain a list of records and are used to select a record to work with. These windows consists of up to three main areas: a List, a Search box, and the Quick Clicks pane.

List

Each row in the list area represents a record that can be selected. The various columns shown are determined by the column layout. QuickView tabs may be displayed, depending on the settings defined for your QuickViews. If a field's contents are not fully shown, you can hover over the field to display a tooltip with the extended contents. Press F5 to Refresh the list of records.

You can select a record by clicking on it. Multiple recordscan be selected. Records that have been selected will be highlighted. When multiple records are selected in the list, the status bar will display a Record Count indicator with the text "Selected:" followed by a count of the number of records currently selected. You can copy the selected record(s) to the Windows clipboard using Ctrl+C or the button.

Double-click on a row in the list to open the associated record to see additional information. If included as a column, the Client ID will be shown as a hyperlink; click the link to open the associated matter in the Tabs3 Billing Matter Manager.

Search Box You can enter a search value into the Search box to filter the records in the current window to show only those records that contain the specified text. Every field that is included in the current column layout will be searched. However, you can search a field that is not part of the current column layout by entering the field ID followed by a colon and the search value. See the Search box topic for more information.
Quick Clicks The Quick Clicks pane provides convenient access to many features that affect the list including QuickViews, filters, column layouts, and more.

The following features are available in a List window:

Sort Order The sort order of the records shown in the list is determined by clicking a column heading. An ascending sort indicator will be shown in the column heading indicating the sort order. Click the same column heading again to reverse the sort order and change the sort indicator to a descending sort indicator. For sorts that take longer to perform, a progress meter is displayed with the option to cancel the sorting request.
Incremental Search

When focus is placed in the list, you can type one or more characters to advance the list to the first record with that character based on the sorted column. A small Incremental Search window will automatically open with the characters you have typed. The title bar of the Incremental Search window will indicate which index is being used. You can easily switch indexes by clicking a different column heading. As each character is typed, the list advances to the first record in the sorted column that matches the characters entered. If records are sorted in ascending order, the highlighted record will appear at the top of the list. If records are sorted in descending order, the highlighted record will appear at the bottom of the list.

Note: The Incremental Search is available with any sort order based on an alpha, memo, email, lookup, number, money, phone, contact, file, Web page, Client ID, or User ID field type. It will not work with date, time, boolean, or virtual field types.

Column Layout The columns displayed in the list are determined by the column layout selected in the Column Layout group of the Quick Clicks pane. Column widths can be resized. To resize a column, move the mouse pointer between the desired column headings, then click and drag the right side of the column to the desired size. Column layouts are defined via Manage Column Layouts, which is accessible in the Quick Clicks Column Layout group, or the Edit menu.
Filtering The records shown in the list can be filtered using the options in the Filter group of the Quick Clicks pane. If a filter is applied to the list when the window is closed, that same filter will automatically be used the next time the window is opened. Filters are defined via Manage Filters, which is accessible in the Quick Clicks Filter group, or the Edit menu.
QuickViews

QuickView tabs displayed in the list window are determined by the QuickView selected in the QuickViews group of the Quick Clicks pane. QuickViews are defined via Manage QuickViews, which is accessible in the Quick Clicks QuickView group, or the Edit menu.

When multiple records are selected in a List window, the status bar will display a Record Count indicator with the text "Selected:" followed by a count of the number of records currently selected.
