| Search Box |
The Search box is available in List windows, as well as the Statement Manager. The Search box is used to filter the records shown in the current window to only those that contain the specified text. Modifying the text in the Search box will automatically update the records shown in the window. Every field that is shown in the current column layout will be searched.
The Search box can contain a maximum of 500 characters. Any character can be specified. See the Notes section for additional information regarding search text.
Tip: You can instantly access the Search box by pressing Ctrl+E.

Field Names are listed on the left side of the Search panel, and corresponding empty text boxes are displayed on the right side of the Search panel. Entering text in the text boxes will search the corresponding field for only the entered text. Multiple fields can be searched at the same time. The information that can be searched depends on the field type of the selected field. Some fields contain specific values, which can be found in the column layout for the file being accessed. |

Note: Search box filtering is case insensitive.
Note: Using multiple search terms in the Search box will search for occurrences where all specified words are found in a single record. This is equivalent to "AND" searching. However, each term is considered separately. Searches for multiple search terms will return results when the terms are in different fields of the same record.
For example, searching in the Contacts list for smith medical will return records where the term "smith" appears in any field and the term "medical" appears in any field, such as when the word "smith" is in the Contact Name field and the word "medical" is in the Organization field.
To search for occurrences of smith or medical, you must perform two separate searches, set up a filter, or use Conflict Searching.
To search for occurrences where smith and medicalare next to one another, use double quotation marks around the entered text ("smith medical").
Note: To search for information that is located in fields that are not part of the current column layout, the Field ID must be manually entered in the Search box. For example, if you want to search for the word "medical" in the Organization field and the Organization field is not part of the current column layout, you can enter the following into the Search Box without quotation marks: "Organization:medical".
Note: Virtual fields are searched when using the Search box.
Note: The text content of statements (i.e., the description of individual fees, statement notes, or addresses) are not searched using the Search box, only the columns included in the Statement Manager list.
Note: The limit for entering text in the Search box directly is 500 characters; however, using the fields in the Search panel to populate the Search box will ignore this limit if there are fewer than 500 characters already entered in the Search box.
A common mistake that results in not finding the record(s) you are searching for is searching a list whose column layout does not include the field you want to search. If you are not finding the record(s) you are searching for, try one of the following:
- Select the Default column layout. This layout includes all available file fields.
- Select a different column layout that includes the column you want to search.
- Manually enter the Field ID. For example, you can search for "medical" in the Organization field by entering “Organization:medical" in the Search box.
