| Beginning & Ending Statement Notes |
Maximum of 250 characters for each field. Text can be entered in these fields to further customize the beginning and end of a client's statement. This text is unique to the individual client. The Beginning Statement Notes and/or Ending Statement Notes can optionally be included on the Detail Work-In-Process Report.
Tip: If you have a message you want printed for multiple clients, consider specifying statement notes for the client's statement template.
The Beginning Statement Notes field will print on the statement following the client's Work Description and Miscellaneous lines but before any statement notes specified in the statement template. This positioning makes it useful to use these lines as a continuation of the Work Description and Miscellaneous lines. A blank line is always printed between the Work Description/Miscellaneous lines and the Beginning Statement Notes.
The Ending Statement Notes field will print at the end of the statement on the bottom of the page (but before any statement notes specified in the statement template and before the optional 4 lines of text defined on the Headings tab of Statement Customization). Click here to see an example of where the statement notes print.
Note: When combining matters on a statement, Beginning Statement Notes print for each matter. However, Ending Statement Notes are printed for the last matter only. Beginning and Ending Statement Notes do not print on cover statements.
Blank lines can be entered to separate paragraphs of text by simply pressing the Enter key. By default, Insert Mode is on.
Formatting: Text in this field can be formatted to include bold, italic, and underline attributes. These formatting attributes can be cleared by selecting the Clear Attributes option from the shortcut menu. The case of the selected text can be reversed by selecting the Reverse Case option from the shortcut menu. Text can easily be zoomed between 100% and 500% by pressing the Ctrl key while scrolling up or down with your mouse.
Alignment: There are 3 possible alignments: 1) left justified with the client name and address; 2) left justified with the transaction description; and 3) center justified. By default, each line of the Ending and Beginning Statement Notes will print left justified with the transaction description. The code "\C" can be used at the beginning of a line to center the text. Likewise, the code "\L" can be used at the beginning of a line to left justify the text with the client name and address. (Tip: If you want a line other than the first line to be centered, make sure the code is at the beginning of a line and follows a hard carriage return on the previous line.)
Dates: The date codes "\S", "\B" and "\E" can be used anywhere in any of the lines to print the respective date specified (i.e., "\S" = Statement Date, "\B" = Beginning Fee Date and "\E" = Ending Fee Date). The format "MM/DD/YYYY" is used for the date codes. You can increment or decrement the date by adding the number of days you want to increment after the date code, or adding a minus sign (-) and the number of days you want to decrement after the date code. For example, "\S30" would increment the date by 30 days and "\S-30" would decrement the date by 30 days.
Note: When using date codes "\B" or "\E", a Beginning and/or Ending Fee Date must be entered on the Transactions tab of the Generate Statements program in order for the date to print on the statement.
Text Macros: This field allows the use of text macros. Various text macro options can be accessed via the shortcut menu.
Spell Check: The
button (or Alt+C) can be used to spell
check all text in both the Beginning and Ending Statement Notes fields. Spell checking
is performed as you type if the Automatic spell check as you type check box on the Spell
Check Options window is selected. However, new notes are not automatically spell checked when they
are saved.
Find: Right-clicking and selecting the Find menu option (or Ctrl+F) can be used to open a Find dialog allowing you to search for specified text in the field. Ctrl+G can be used to find subsequent occurrences of the previously specified text.
