You can change the font used in rich text fields. Changing this font will only affect how the text is displayed in the data entry windows; it will not have any effect on how the text is printed on reports or statements.

The default font for rich text fields is Segoe UI 10 point. Font information is stored in two locations: the user profile, and the STI.INI file. The user profile contains changes to the font size (e.g., 130%) after using the zoom feature. The STI.INI file contains the font name (e.g., Segoe UI) and the base font size (e.g., 10 point).

Changing the font size via the zoom feature

You can optionally zoom the font size between 100% and 500%. The font size can be changed in increments of 20% starting at 110% (i.e. 100%, 110%, 130%, 150%, etc.) by pressing the Ctrl key while scrolling up or down with your mouse while in a rich text field, or via keyboard commands. The new font size will be saved for each user.

Zoom Controls

Use the keyboard and scroll function of your mouse to zoom rich text fields instantly.

  • To enlarge the display
    • Press the Ctrl key while scrolling up
    • Press Ctrl + "="
    • Press Ctrl + "+"
  • To reduce the display by 5 percent increments
    • Press the Ctrl key while scrolling down
    • Press Ctrl + "–"
  • To reset the font to 100 percent
    • Press Ctrl + "0" (zero)

This change is stored in the user profile and is remembered until the font size is changed again.

Note: Changing the font size for one rich text field affects all rich text fields in each program.

Note: Only multi-line rich text fields are affected by the zoom feature. Rich text fields consisting of a single line are not affected by the zoom feature. This is because the text size could exceed the space allowed. For example, the Statement Customization Cover Stmts tab allows you to enter lines of text to appear on the cover statement. Each line is a single individual line, and not a multi-line field.

Changing the font name via the STI.INI file

Keep in mind that the base font size saved in the STI.INI file is equal to 100%. The zoom feature cannot be used to make the font size less than 100%. Changes to the base font size, or changes to the font name, must be made in the STI.INI file. To change the font name or the base font size, add the following information under the [STI Options] section in the STI.INI file. If the [STI Options] section does not exist in the STI.INI file, simply add it to the end of the file.

[STI Options]
RichTextEditFont=Courier New,17

Any font can be specified. You must multiply the desired font size by 2. In the example above, an 8.5 point font in Courier New is specified (i.e., 8.5 x 2 = 17).

Note: The font specified in the STI.INI file is equal to 100%. Changing the font in the STI.INI file will change the font type and default size, but will not change the zoom percentage previously set.
