The Main Cover Client option is used to 1) determine which client matter's address will print on the cover statement; and 2) which client matter's Cover Statement format will be used for the cover statement. This option does not determine which matters are included in the cover statement. Although more than one matter can have this check box selected, usually only one matter for a client will have this check box selected. When statements are being run, Tabs3 checks the Main Cover Client check box for all matters for the client regardless of whether or not the matter is included on the statement.

Note: This option is ignored for matters that have a Cover Statement option of None, Individual Detail or Individual Summary specified.

No Files Have Main Cover Client Selected
If no matters have their Main Cover Client check box selected, then by default, the last matter on the cover statement will be used for the address and Cover Statement format.

One or More Files Have Main Cover Client Selected
If one or more matters have their Main Cover Client check box selected, the first matter with the check box selected will be used for the address and Cover Statement format (i.e., the matter with the lowest client ID). Note that the matter does not have to be included in the statement to have its address and Cover Statement format used for the cover statement.
