| Overview of GL Integration for Advanced Client Costs Write Offs and Write-Downs |
Integration can be enabled for adjustments of Tabs3 Billing advance cost totals. This is done by adding each desired advance cost type to a table using the GLS Integration Setup program.
Once the integration is configured, journal entries are created automatically when an advance is adjusted. The journal entries are created without any user intervention. Journal entries are created for any of the following:
- Changing an advance transaction amount
- Changing an advance transaction from billable to non-billable
- Deleting an advance transaction
- Writing off an advance amount
- Reversing a write off of an advance amount
- Writing-up or writing-down an advance transaction
In GL, you can verify the journal entries created by an adjustment by using any of the following:
- General Ledger Report
- Journal Report
- Journal Entry Verification List
- Journal Entry file
Adjusting an advance in Tabs3 Billing will make adjustments in GL; however, changing a journal entry in GL will not make changes to the Tabs3 advance cost entry. As a rule of thumb, changes and deletions should be made to the original entries in the application in which they were generated.
AP Note: Firms that use Tabs3 Accounts Payable (AP) post journal entries for costs to GL using the AP application. Adjustments to these costs in Tabs3 Billing will create journal entries in GL; however, it is recommended that the invoice in AP be adjusted, which will then correct both the journal entries in GL and the cost in Tabs3 Billing.
