| Print Reminder Statement for Clients |
This option is used to send out reminder statements without having to change the statement template. Select this check box if you only want to process statements for clients who have previous balances. Fees or costs will not be billed regardless of the Fee Format, Expense Format and Advance Format selected for the statement template.
Note Regarding Statement Type: The Reminder Statement option works only for clients who have a Statement Type of Statement. The Statement Type is assigned in the statement template. If your firm has clients that are assigned a statement template which uses a Statement Type of Invoice, then the Print Reminder Statement for Clients option will not work for those clients. This is because the Previous Balance line will not print for these clients and therefore will not be included in the Balance Due line. To work around this, set up a special report definition for reminder statements. Specify a Statement Type of Statement to override the Statement Type of Invoice specified in individual clients' statement templates.
Note: The Release To Bill check box in the Client file must be selected in order for a reminder statement to print for a client with the following exception. If the client is a Bill On Demand client, a reminder statement will be printed regardless of whether the Release To Bill check box is selected or not.
Note: Although fees and costs are not billed when printing a reminder statement, any applicable finance charges on the balance due will be assessed. If the client’s statement template is configured to include an Aged Past Due Message, and the Add Current Work to Past Due Amounts option is selected in Statement Customization, then the amount of assessed finance charge will be shown in the first aging period.
Caution: Before running final statements using the Print Reminder Statement for Clients option, be sure to update any previously run final statements. Otherwise, any fees and costs included on the previous final statement will be unbilled when a final statement using the Print Reminder Statement for Clients option is run. Keep in mind that reminder statements will include payments for clients with an accounts receivable balance. The Pre-Update Statements Report can be printed before running reminder statements to determine which clients, if any, need to be updated before reminder statements are printed.
Note: The "Client" terminology can be changed in Customization. This terminology is used on all menus, windows, and reports. However, the label "Client" is used in all documentation.
