| Report Definitions Overview |
Tabs3 allows you to save all of the options specified for individual reports and statement runs as report definitions. These report definitions can be retrieved at a later time as needed. This feature saves time when running statements and reports on a regular basis by streamlining the process of selecting the options. You can also save your own report settings as the defaults for a report. If desired, you can create a report suite that allows you to run a series of reports with virtually a single click of the mouse.
When saving a report definition, Tabs3 also allows you to specify whether the report definition will be used as the default for the report. The next time any user selects the report, the options from the report definition will be used by default.
The reports that allow you to create and use report definitions include two buttons in the report window: the Load button and the Save button.
| Load | The Load button can be used to retrieve a previously saved report definition for a report. The Report Definition List will be displayed, allowing you to select a report definition. This list can optionally include report definitions for the current report or all reports. Likewise, it can include report definitions for the current user or all users. |
| Save | The Save button can be used to save the specified options as a report definition. The Save Report Definition window will be displayed, allowing you to specify a report definition name and description. |
Note: Report definitions saved for one type of report can
be used for other types of reports; however, only the options specified on the Client, Transactions and Sort program tabs will be used. Options specified on the Options program tab apply only
for the type of report the definition was originally saved for.
Options specified on the Sort program tab for one report may not be available for other reports.
For example, if you select the Totals Only check box and then save the report definition, this
option will not apply if you use this report definition for a report that does not allow the Totals
Only option.
Note: When defining the Thru field for timekeepers, categories, and tcodes, if the maximum number is entered (e.g., 999 is the maximum number of tcodes that can be entered), these fields will be blank each time the saved report definition is loaded.
