The Tabs3 Statement Designer lets you create customized page layouts for the statements you send to your clients. In addition to placing various graphic elements such as images, lines ,and rectangles on the page layout, you can also control the placement of information drawn from the Client file for each client using special elements called fields. The following types of fields are available in the Statement Designer:

Alpha Fields

The majority of the fields that retrieve data from the Client file are Alpha Fields. Alpha Fields may contain any combination of letters, numbers and punctuation. ALPHA_SEARCH, ADDR1 and ZIP are all examples of Alpha Fields.

Client ID Fields

There is only one Client ID field in the Tabs3 Client file. When this field is accessed via the Statement Designer, it uses a special field type of Client ID Field. Client ID Fields contain up to twelve characters, including letters, numbers and a separator character that separates the client portion of the Client ID from the matter portion.

Date Fields

Date Fields are used to retrieve data from fields in the Client file that store only date information. DATE_OPEN and CLOSE_DATE are examples of Date Fields.

Integer Fields

Integer Fields are used to retrieve data from fields in the Client file that store only integers (i.e., numbers with no decimal places). PRIM_TKPR and CATEGORY are examples of Integer Fields.

Label Fields

There are two Label Fields available in the Statement Designer: Work Description | Re: (@ReLabel) and Attention Line | Attn: (@attentionLabel). These are used to provide labels such as "RE:" or "Attn:" for the Work Description field (DESC) and the Attention Line field (@attentionLine) in the Bill To file. If a client's Work Description or Attention Line field is blank or suppressed (i.e., the Work Description field contains an asterisk as the first character or the Include Attention line on statement check box is cleared, preventing it from being included on statements), the presence of the corresponding Label Field on the page layout prevents the Work Description and Attention Line fields from printing.
