The matter is the portion of the Client ID to the right of the decimal point. It represents a unique identifier to differentiate between matters for individual clients (i.e., Client IDs whose characters to the left of the decimal point are identical). If using a Numeric or Mixed Key Type, the matter portion can only use numeric characters. If using an Alpha Key Type, you may use a combination of alphanumeric characters. The Key Type is specified on the Main tab in Tabs3 Customization. If the Key Type is Numeric or Mixed, the next matter number can be automatically assigned when creating a new matter for a client.
