  4. Make the desired changes.
  5. Click on the toolbar to save the changes.

Notes

If you change the Description, you will be asked if you want to change the default description for unbilled entries.

You cannot change a transaction code's number using the Transaction Code file; you must use the Renumber Transaction Code program.

Changing the Rate or Amount will not affect any previously entered fee transactions. If you want previously entered transactions to be affected by the new change, you must edit each of the transactions or use the Change WIP Transactions program (fees only).

The Units field for cost transactions is not stored in the cost data file. It is a calculated number based on Amount divided by Rate. Therefore, changing the Rate or Amount for cost transactions will automatically recalculate the Units for any work-in-process cost transactions.

Not all transaction code Types can be changed once a transaction code has been saved. The following rules apply when changing saved transaction code types:

If you edit a transaction code's Type from "5" (miscellaneous) to "0" (normal) or from "0" to "5," you will be asked if you want to change the Tcode Type for unbilled entries. Click Yes if you want the previously entered work-in-process transactions changed also. Otherwise, click No if you do not want work-in-process transactions changed or Cancel if you want to abort the edit.

If you edit a cost transaction code's Cost Type, you will be asked if you want to change the cost type for unbilled entries. Click Yes if you want the previously entered work-in-process transactions changed also. Otherwise, click No if you do not want work-in-process transactions changed or Cancel if you want to abort the edit.

If you edit a cost transaction code's Transaction Type (Type 0 or Type 5 only) from Expenses to Advances or from Advances to Expenses, you will be asked if you want to change the Expense/Advance Type for unbilled entries. Click Yes if you want the previously entered work-in-process transactions changed also. Otherwise, click No if you do not want work-in-process transactions changed or Cancel if you want to abort the edit.

QuickBooks Note: If a change is made to the Alpha Code field, the corresponding change must be made to the QuickBooks Class List.
