Status

The Status group contains the following options:

Recent This check box limits the list the last 20 contacts accessed by the workstation. The most recently accessed contact is at the top of the list. Whenever a contact is added or edited, the Contact ID is saved to the recent contacts list in the STI.INI file.

Note: When the Recent check box is selected, column sorting is not available.

Show Inactive This check box determines whether inactive contacts are included in the list of contacts. Inactive contacts are shown in the list with parentheses around the Contact ID [i.e., (Smith/John)]. Select this check box if you want inactive contacts included. Clear this check box if you want inactive contacts excluded from the list.

Type

These options allow you to limit what contact types are included in the list.

Clients Select this check box to include Tabs3 Billing, PracticeMaster, or Tabs3 Trust Accounting client contacts in the list.
AP Vendors Select this check box to include Tabs3 Accounts Payable vendor contacts in the list.
Trust Payees Select this check box to include Tabs3 Trust Accounting payee contacts in the list.
Users Select this check box to include user contacts in the list.
Other Contacts Select this check box to include contacts in the list other than client, vendor, payee, or user contacts, such as potential clients, expert witnesses, courthouses, judges, opposing attorneys, bail bondsmen, court personnel, government officials, court reporters, private investigators, insurance companies and adjusters, hospitals, doctors, interpreters, media contacts, and more.

Select or clear all of these check boxes to display all contacts.

List

Each row in the list area represents a contact. Double-click a row in the list to select the contact and close the lookup window.

The Contact Lookup window includes the following columns in the list area: Contact ID, Full Name, Organization, Business Phone and Email Address.

You can change the sorting order of the records by clicking a column heading. An ascending sort indicator will be shown in the column heading indicating the sorting order. Clicking the same column heading again will reverse the sort order and change the sort indicator to a descending sort indicator. When the primary sort is not unique, the secondary sort is entry order.

Incremental Search

Incremental searches can be performed based on any of the displayed columns, depending on which column is used as the primary sort. After typing a letter or number, a small Incremental Search window will be displayed allowing you to type one or more characters. As each character is typed, the list advances to the first record with that character. When focus is on a record in the list, begin typing what you want to search for. The incremental search window will automatically open.

Note: The Incremental Search is not available when filtering is enabled.

SnapShot

An optional SnapShot panel displays data from individual contact records in an easy to view format. The Lookup windows can be resized or maximized to allow more room for the SnapShot panel.

The OK button selects the currently highlighted contacts and closes the lookup window.

The Filter button can be used to filter the contacts shown in the Contact Lookup window based on the information in the Full Name field. The entire Full Name field is searched; not just the first characters of the field. Searching is case insensitive.

Once the Filter button has been clicked, the Contact Lookup window is redrawn with the filter shown at the top of the window.

Filter Text Maximum of 50 characters. Enter the text you want used for filtering contacts. Only contacts with the specified text in their Full Name field will be shown in the list.

The filter indicator shows the status of the filtering.

Ready The indicator has a green background and indicates the filtering has completed and/or is ready to accept a different Filter Text for additional filtering.
Waiting The indicator has a yellow background and indicates Tabs3 Billing is waiting for you to enter additional characters in the Filter Text field.
Searching The indicator has a red background and indicates that Tabs3 Billing is performing the filtering process.

The Add button opens the New Contact window, allowing you to create a new contact.

The Edit button opens the currently selected contact, allowing you to make any necessary changes to the contact record.

The Cancel button closes the Contact Lookup window without selecting a contact.
