-999,999.99 to 9,999,999.99. The Amount field defaults to the calculation of Hours to Bill x Rate. A popup calculator is available when editing this field.

A credit entry is made by preceding the number with a minus sign (example: -150.50). Credit entries can only be made for transactions with a billable, printable Bill Code. Credits can be made to inactive clients. Regular fee transactions with an amount greater than $0.00 cannot be entered for inactive clients.

If you overwrite the computed amount, the difference between the computed amount and the amount you enter will show up as a write-up or write-down amount on reports. When entering a billable transaction with a zero amount, if the Rate or Hours to Bill are not also "0," then Tabs3 will treat the calculated amount of Rate x Hours to Bill as a write-down amount.

When a client's Warn if Budget Exceeded check box is selected, if the amount of fees entered for a client (including both work-in-process fees and archived fees) exceeds the Budget Amount or Task Based Billing Budget Amount specified in the Client file, a warning message will be displayed indicating that the budgeted amount has been exceeded. You will not be prevented from adding fees that exceed the budgeted amount.

The "<" and ">" keys can be used to increase or decrease the amount by one dollar at a time.
