When you delete or adjust a credit card transaction in Tabs3 Billing, the software will attempt to void or credit the associated transactions in the Tabs3 Pay®, LawPay®, or LexCharge® systems.

If neither a void nor a credit can be processed, a message will be displayed. In this case, the transaction will not be adjusted, and manual adjustments may be required. It is recommended that a check be processed for the credit, either manually, or using Tabs3 Accounts Payable.

There are two methods for voiding or crediting a credit card transaction in Tabs3 Billing:

To void or credit a transaction by deleting a payment or client funds entry

  1. In the Quick Launch, search for and select “Payment Entry.”
  2. Select the payment transaction associated with the credit card payment. (Note that only work-in-process payments are available to be credited/voided in this manner.)
  3. Click the button to delete the payment transaction.
  4. After the payment is deleted, a window will be displayed asking if you want to reverse the associated credit card transaction. Click Yes if you want to reverse the associated credit card payment. Click No if you want to retain the associated credit card payment in the processor’s system.

Note: If you choose not to reverse the credit card transaction when deleting a payment, you will no longer be able to adjust that credit card transaction from within Tabs3. However, you can adjust credit card transactions manually via the Tabs3 Pay Web Portal, LawPay site, or the LexCharge Reports page.

If you have questions regarding one of these sites, please contact their respective support department:

Note: If you delete a Tabs3 Pay or LawPay payment that was part of a payment to multiple matters, only the portion being deleted will be refunded from the Tabs3 Pay or LawPay transaction.
