This program allows you to change the Key Type or Decimal Places once they have been assigned on the Main tab of Tabs3 Customization. Changing the Key Type or Decimal Places will affect all Client IDs.
Caution: It is important to back up your data prior to running this program. If this program is interrupted for any reason, it will be necessary to restore your data files and rerun this program. You will be given the opportunity to make a temporary backup immediately after selecting this program.
The following options are available:
Note: If you specify a Mixed or Alpha Key Type, a message will be displayed indicating that integration with certain cost recovery systems requires a Numeric Key Type. You will be asked to confirm that you want to use a Mixed or Alpha Key Type. (See also: Integration Considerations)
The OK button can be used to begin the process of changing the Key Type. As the Key Type is being changed, progress meters will be displayed to indicate the progress of the Change Key Type program.
The Cancel button can be used to close the Change Key Type window.
Note: When changing the Key Type from Alpha to Numeric, Alpha to Mixed, or Mixed to Numeric, some Client IDs may need to be renumbered prior to changing the Key Type. Clients in the current Key Type must match both the decimal places desired and use the same alpha/numeric format as required by the new Key Type. For additional information about this process, see Knowledge Base Article R11049, “Changing the Key Type or Decimal Places."
