| Change Key Type Examples |
Example #1
The following is an example of when you would want to change the Key Type. Let's assume you have a Numeric Key Type. You want to begin using alphabetical characters in your Client ID but maintain a numerical matter number. To do this, you would need to use the Change Key Type program to change the Key Type from Numeric to Mixed. The New Decimal Places would remain the same.
Example #2
The following is an example of when you would want to change the Decimal Places. Let's assume you have a Numeric Key Type and 2 Decimal Places. You have matters 488.01 through 488.99. You need to set up a matter with number 488.100. To do this you need three decimal places for the matter instead of just two. In order to enter a Client ID with three decimal places, the Decimal Places needs to be changed to 3 using the Change Key Type program.
