A layout group is a collection of page layouts in the Statement Designer. Because there is no limit to the number of page layouts that can be assigned to a layout group, only one layout group is required. However, if you have a large number of page layouts, you may want to use layout groups to organize them into groups of related page layouts.

For example, you might have a layout group called "Page 1 Group", which consists of all page layouts that have been designed for use with the first page of statements, and another layout group called "Page 2 Group", and so on. As another example, you might have a layout group called "Contingency Group" that consists of all page layouts that have been designed for use with the statement templates assigned to contingency clients.

Tip: If you create a layout group named "Default Group" that contains page layouts named "Page 1", "Page 2" and/or "Envelope", then when printing statements with the Enable Statement Designer Layouts check box selected, the page layouts from the "Default Group" layout group will be used for the corresponding parts of the statement any time the statement template does not have a valid page layout assigned to one of those parts. For example, if the statement template has no page layout or an invalid page layout assigned in the Page 1 field, the page layout named "Page 1" from the "Default Group" layout group will be used for the first page of the statement.

Tip: To move a page layout from one layout group to another, click the page layout and, while holding down the left mouse button, drag the page layout to the desired layout group. Release the mouse button when the page layout is in the desired layout group. This makes it easy to control which page layouts belong to which layout groups.
