| Run Report Suite |
|
|||||||||||||||||||||
After selecting the Run Report Suite menu, the Report Suite List will be displayed, allowing you to select which report suite you want to run. After selecting the desired report suite, Tabs3 verifies that all report definitions in the report suite are present and that the user has rights to run all reports in the report suite. If a report definition is missing or the user does not have rights to run a report, a message will be displayed indicating that the report will be skipped. Once the report suite has been selected, the Run Report Suite window will be displayed. The report suite name and description is included in the window.
The Run Report Suite window allows you to specify a Base Date and when you want to run a report suite. Report suites can be run at a specified time, after a specific period of time has elapsed or immediately. The Current Time is included in this window. This window can also be accessed by clicking the Run Suite button found in the Report Suite Manager. The following options are available:
| Base Date |
Specify the date you want the date variables from the report definitions to use when running the report suite. The date variables will be based on the Base Date specified instead of the current reporting month—with the following exceptions:
The Base Date will default to the first day of your current reporting month. |
| Run at |
The Run at option allows you to designate a specific time when the report suite will be run. When this option is selected, enter the time you want the report suite processed and specify whether the time is A.M. or P.M. For example, if you want the report suite to begin running at 6:15 P.M., type 615p. The default time is 7:00 P.M. Pressing "T" (Time) in this field will enter the computer's system time. Pressing "C" (Clear) in this field will clear the time to the default time of 7:00 P.M. The "<" and ">" keys (or "+" and "-" keys) can be used to increase or decrease the specified time by one minute. |
| Delay for |
The Delay for option allows you to specify a fixed number of hours and minutes when the report suite will be run. The specified delay time uses an HH:MM format (where HH represents the number of hours and MM represents the number of minutes). When this option is selected, enter the number of hours and minutes you want to elapse before the report suite begins processing. The specified delay must be less than 24 hours, thus allowing a range of 00:00 - 23:59. For example, if you want the report suite to begin running in 1 hour and 30 minutes (01:30), type 0130. The default delay is 00:00 which is the same as the Run Now option. The "<" and ">" keys (or "+" and "-" keys) can be used to increase or decrease the amount of time by one minute. |
| Run Now | The Run Now option begins running the report suite immediately. |
The Cancel button will close the dialog box without running a report suite.
The OK button begins processing. First, Tabs3 verifies that all report definitions in the report suite are present. If a report definition is missing, a message will be displayed indicating that the report will be skipped. Next, the Print dialog box will be displayed, allowing you to specify whether you want the reports printed, previewed or saved to a disk file.
Note: If the Run at or Delay for options were selected, the Report Suite Countdown dialog box will be displayed thus delaying execution of the report suite until the countdown is zero. The software must be running and the window must be displayed for the Report Suite to run. You will not be able to perform other functions in Tabs3 while this countdown dialog box is shown. However, other users can perform other multi-access functions.
Once the report suite begins processing, each report definition is launched immediately. The Print Control window can be used to check the status of each report.
While the report suite is processing, other functions can be performed in Tabs3.
Note: If you are previewing the report suite (as opposed to printing or saving it), it may not be practical to use other functions in Tabs3 at the same time. This is because each time a new report in the suite is started, a preview window is opened and focus is shifted to the preview window.
Note: When saving a report suite to a disk file, all reports are saved to the same file.
