| Client ID |
The Client ID field represents the Client ID. Maximum of 12 characters (including optional decimal point). The characters used in the Client ID as well as the minimum and maximum client numbers depend on the Key Type and Decimal Places defined in Tabs3 Customization. The label used for this field can be changed in Customization.
Note: This field behaves differently depending on the Key Type being used. When adding a client, if you are using a Mixed or Alpha Key Type, enter a period at the end of the new Client ID to indicate you are adding a new client. Otherwise, Tabs3 will retrieve an existing client with the closest matching Client ID.
The
button can be used to open the Client
Lookup window that allows you to view a list of clients and select a client record by double-clicking
it. (Note: The last Client ID or name entered in this field will be used as the starting point for
the list.)
The
and
buttons on the toolbar (or the F3 and F4 keys) can be used to back up or advance to a different client record one at a time.
The
button on the toolbar can
be used to automatically assign the next available Client ID or matter number when adding a new client.
Note: New matters inherit information from the last active matter when using a Numeric or Mixed Key Type. New matter numbers can only be assigned when using a Numeric or Mixed Key Type. They cannot be assigned when using an Alpha Key Type.
