| Billing Rate Code |
Maximum of 1 digit (0-9). The Billing Rate Code is one method that can be used to determine the default Rate for fee transactions. If a fee rate table (or timekeeper level rate or timekeeper level code) is defined for a client, the Billing Rate Code specified here will not be used.

Note: When adding a new client, this field defaults to the value specified on the Client Defaults tab of the Customization window. If you are adding a matter to an existing client, the Billing Rate Code defaults to the Billing Rate Code defined for the last matter of the client.
| 0 | Flat Fee Amount | Indicates the client is a flat fee client. When “0” is specified, the Hourly Rate field is changed to a Flat Amount field. This amount will be used as a basis for writing-up or writing-down the client when the Adjust Flat Fee Clients program is run. When entering fees for clients with a Billing Rate Code of “0”, Tabs3 uses its normal method of selecting the default billing rate. |
| 1 thru 6 | Timekeeper Rates 1-6 | Indicates that the corresponding hourly billing rate from the timekeeper file will be used as the default billing rate (i.e., “1” refers to Hourly Rate 1 from the timekeeper file, “2” refers to Hourly Rate 2 from the timekeeper file, etc.). |
| 7 | Tcode Rate | Indicates that the Rate from the transaction code file will be used as the default billing rate for fee transactions. |
| 8 | Tcode Amount | Indicates that the Amount from the transaction code file will be used as the default billing amount for fee transactions. The rate will automatically be calculated based on the Amount and Hours entered (i.e., Amount divided by Hours = Rate). |
| 9 | Hourly Rate | Indicates that the Hourly Rate from the client record will be used as the default billing rate. |
