| Archive Matter Address |
The Archive Matter Address window is displayed when a matter is changed to be inactive by selecting the Inactive check box on the Address tab of the Client file. How this message is answered determines whether the matter will maintain the last address used when the matter was marked inactive or if the address will continue to be updated when the contact is updated. The option to archive the matter address is often selected when it is a firm's policy to maintain the last billing address of an inactive client. It is particularly useful if the contact has other open matters and you do not want the inactive matter to be affected when the contact's address is updated.
Click Yes if you want to archive the address for this matter. The Address selector will be changed to Matter to indicate that the matter's address is in matter mode and the contact's current address will be saved in the Client file. Additionally, the Address selector in the Bill To Record window for all Bill To records for the matter will be changed to Matter, thus saving the associated address(es) in the Bill To file.
Click No to save the inactive matter without archiving the matter address.
A matter address can also be archived using Change Client Options. You can change multiple clients to inactive status and select whether to archive the matter address for the clients. Additionally, you can select to update all inactive clients to archive the current matter address.
Note: This window is not displayed when inactivating a matter if the matter is currently secure or set for matter mode.
