Automatic client funds payments to the firm can generate GLS journal entries when the statement is updated using the Update Statements program. If you are not integrating Tabs3 with GLS, you can print a Transaction File List to obtain summarized totals for any desired transaction code and date range. These totals can be posted manually to your GLS journal file at any time you desire (i.e., daily, weekly, monthly).
When a final statement is updated for a client that includes payment transactions, and there are unallocated payments for that client, these payments will be automatically allocated. This will result in two sets of journal entries in GLS:
- The amount of the allocation will be reversed from the accounts specified for the unallocated payments on the GLS Accounts table.
- New journal entries will be created for the amount of the allocation to accounts based on the posting level, as specified in GLS Integration Setup.
Journal entries will only be created if the payment posting level is configured to integrate with GLS and has both debit and credit general ledger account numbers entered in the GLS Account Table for payments in GLS Integration Setup. If the payment posting level is configured to integrate with GLS but only one or neither of the general ledger account numbers are entered in the GLS Account Table, then an error will be generated. One-sided journal entries cannot be posted. They can only be posted in pairs.
Note: GLS Debit and Credit Account numbers are required unless integrating payments solely by Tcode. If payments are integrating by Tcode, all payment tcodes used for client funds should have both a debit and credit account number specified in GLS Integration Setup to prevent entries from not posting to GLS and generating errors.
