Type 4 Tcode - Description Only
The Type 4 transaction code is used for "description only" transactions and does not allow entry of hours worked, hours to bill, units, rate, amount, or sales tax. This transaction code can be used for text only comment lines. (Tip: Use a "01/01/1970" date when you want the Type 4 transaction to print on the statement before other transactions.) The date and timekeeper initials do not print on statements for Type 4 transaction codes. The transaction will be assigned to the Primary Timekeeper for the client.
The Type 4 transaction code can also be used in conjunction with statement templates that use Summary Fee Formats, Expense Formats or Advance Formats. These formats allow only the Type 4 (description only) transaction codes to print on the statement (along with Type 0 or Type 5 transactions that have a Bill Code of 4), yet bill the total amount from the individual transactions.
Note: The Write Off Client and Payment Adjustment programs can optionally generate Type 4 transactions. Unlike regular Type 4 transactions, these transactions will include the amount of the write off or payment adjustment. This amount cannot be edited. These transactions are added to the Fee file and can be edited or deleted using the Fee Entry program. However, the status of these transactions cannot be changed to a Save status.
Note: The Type 4 description only transactions entered when performing a write off or payment adjustment will not be included on the statement if an Invoice Format is specified. These Type 4 transactions will always print on the matter’s next statement that is run in statement format, regardless of the specified transaction types, date ranges, or statement template configuration.
