| Notes Regarding Printing Labels |
Margins
When labels are printed using the Avery Laser or Two-across output format, Tabs3 uses the Left and Right margins specified in Print Setup for the printer but forces the Top and Bottom margins to be 1/2 inch in order for the information to fit on the label form. However, if the Left Margin or Right Margin is less than .250 inches, a .250 inch margin will be used. If any Printer Offset Adjustment is specified, it is still used.
When printing laser labels (i.e., two-across), you can use the minimum margins for your selected printer. If you need to make adjustments, use the Printer Offset Adjustment to make the adjustment instead of the Margins because the Printer Offset Adjustment adjusts the entire printed page whereas the Left Margin adjusts only the left column. You may want to set up a special Windows printer for labels.
When printing using other output formats, the Margins and Printer Offset Adjustment from Print Setup are used.
Regardless of the font size selected, the labels are printed using a line spacing of 6 lines per inch.
Precedence of Information Used on One-Across Labels
When labels are printed using the One-across Labels Output Format, Tabs3 uses the following criteria to prioritize what information will be printed on the label if the Number of Printable Lines on a Label is too small to allow all of the information to print:
Client Full Name
Address Line 1
Address Line 2
Address Line 3
City, State, Zip
Country
Contact Full Name
Note: If the Include Contact Full Name option is selected and the Include Client Full Name option is cleared, the Contact Full Name will replace the Client Full Name in order of precedence. However, the Client Full Name will print if Contact Full Name is blank.
Information on Specific Fields
The following information pertains to specific fields used on the labels.
If the Client Full Name exceeds the Number of Printable Characters Across Label specified, the remaining characters will be wrapped to a second line if there are additional lines available on the label. |
The City, State, and Zip fields are combined on one line. This line is printed with 2 spaces between the city and state and 2 spaces between the state and zip to comply with U.S. Postal Service regulations (i.e., no comma is placed between the city and state). |
The Country field will print on the label if information has been entered in the Country field in the Client file. |
If the Last Statement Date field has been selected as a selection criteria, the client's Additional Bill To record's address lines will print instead of the client's address lines when the client is set up to use only the Additional Bill To record (i.e., only bill to a third party) and the Default Bill To record is set up to not receive statements. Furthermore, two mailing labels will print when the client is set up to receive two statements (i.e., the client has a Default and Additional Bill To record set up), one label with the client's address and one label with the client's Additional Bill To record's address. |
If a client's Default Bill To address is set up to not receive mail statements, but an Additional Bill To record is defined and configured to receive mail statements, then the client is marked with a Bill To Option of Y. If both the Default Bill To and the Additional Bill To are configured to receive mail statements, then the client is marked with a Bill To Option of D. |
