The Default Bill To record is always the first record listed in the Statement Delivery Options table on the Billing Preferences tab of the Client file. It has a description of "Address shown on the Address tab," which cannot be changed. This Bill To record is automatically created when the a new matter is entered. This record is automatically updated whenever information on the Address tab of the Client file is updated.

To view the contents of the Default Bill To record, in the Statement Delivery Options section of the Billing Preferences tab, highlight the first record and click the Edit button. Alternatively, you can double-click the first record.

The information in the Default Bill To record is read-only. To change the Statement Address or Email Address, open the Address tab of the Client file. The information displayed on this tab is used in the Bill To Record window.

For example, if the Client Name field matches the Contact Name field, the Default Bill To record uses the address and email address information from that contact because only information from that contact is displayed on the Address tab of the Client file.

If the Client Name field is different from the Contact Name field, the Default Bill To record will use a combination of address information from each contact based on what is shown on the Address tab of the Client file.

Note: When two Bill To records are shown in the Statement Delivery Options table, the second record is called the Additional Bill To record.
