| Payment Format |
The Payment Format option determines the format of the payment section on the statement. This option determines whether individual payment transactions are shown as separate line items, a total only or subtotaled by date. Unlike an invoice format, when using a statement format, payments are included on the statement. The following options are available:
| Detail |
Select the Detail option if you want individual payments itemized on the statement along with the payment total. If only one payment is included on the statement, no payment total is printed. Payments are sorted in date order. Multiple payments with the same date are further sorted by reference number. When this option is selected, the text for the "Total Payments" line is taken from Line 33 of the Terminology tab in Statement Customization. 10/13/2021 Payment received. Thank you. -400.00 10/15/2021 Payment received. Thank you. -200.00 ------- Total Payments -600.00 |
| Totals Only |
Select the Totals Only option if you want the payment total only to print on the statement instead of itemizing the individual payments. The text "Total Payments Thru MM/DD/YYYY" and the payment total will be printed on the statement (even when there is only one payment being processed). The date represents the payment cut-off date selected when running the statement. If the payment cut-off date specified is "mm/dd/yyyy," then the text "Total Payments" prints. If desired, the text "Total Payments" and "Thru" can be changed on Line 33 and Line 29 of the Terminology tab in Statement Customization. Total Payments Thru 10/30/2021 -600.00

| Total By Date |
Select the Total By Date option if you want a separate total to print for each day payments were received. This option is particularly useful for firms who enter payments in Tabs3 by specifying separate fee payments, expense payments and advance payments for each payment received. This method is used for greater control over accounting allocations. When using this method of entering payments, you don't necessarily want to confuse the client by showing 3 separate payments on the same date when the client knows they only sent one check. This option will subtotal the separate payments back to the original amount of the check. When this option is selected, the text for the "Total Payments" line is taken from Line 33 of the Terminology tab in Statement Customization. Total Payments for 10/13/2021 -400.00 Total Payments for 10/15/2021 -200.00 ------- Total Payments -600.00 |
Tip: If you want the payment cut-off date shown in the Total Payments line,
you can edit Line
33 of the Terminology tab in Statement Customization to read:
Total Payments Thru \E
Note: If you want to use drill-down capabilities when previewing draft statements, the Payment Format must be set to Detail.
