Type 3 Tcode - Cost Payment
This is a special payment type that applies cash receipts to costs due and finance charge due. A cost payment never applies to fees. A cost payment can be either an expense payment or an advance payment. This is determined by the Transaction Type specified for the transaction code; expense payments have a Transaction Type of "Expense" and advance payments have a Transaction Type of "Advance". A cost payment that is an expense payment cannot apply to advances. Likewise, a cost payment that is an advance payment cannot apply to expenses. If a cost payment is made and it exceeds the amount owed for costs, the credit amount is stored in either the Expenses Due or Advances Due fields on the A/R & Fund Balances tab of the Client file after "processing" the payment. Negative payments are not allowed. Use the Payment Adjustment program to back out processed cost payments.
Note: The order in which a payment is allocated is determined by the client's Method to Apply Payments and Apply Payments to Finance Charge fields.
