The Statement Comment menu option on the Edit menu or shortcut menu turns on or off the statement comment attribute for the selected text or at the cursor position. Statement comment text will be displayed in red on the screen but when printed will be printed with a strikethrough character as shown in the following example:

Statement comments will not print on final statements but will print on reports (i.e., Verification List, Detail Work-In-Process Report, and optionally on the Detail Transaction File List). Statement templates can be configured to include statement comments on draft statements.

Tip: If the statement comment text is on a line by itself, you may want to include the hard carriage return at the end of the line as part of the statement comment so that a blank line does not print on the statement. If you are adding a new statement comment and want the hard carriage return included in the statement comment text, press the Enter key before turning off the statement comment attribute. If you are editing text and want the hard carriage return included as part of the statement comment, include the extra space at the end of the line when highlighting text. Then turn on the statement comment attribute.

A check mark next to the menu option indicates that the attribute is turned on at the cursor position or at the beginning of the selected text.

Statement comments are available in the Description field of the Fee, Cost, Payment and Client Funds programs.
