The LawPay tab allows you to enable or disable LawPay® electronic payment processing in Tabs3 Billing, and to define Merchant Accounts for use in payment processing. Once enabled, credit cards and eChecks can be processed using the Payment Entry or Client Funds Entry programs, or by including payment links in your Email Statements.

Tabs3 Credit Card processing uses merchant accounts from LawPay. To sign up for a LawPay merchant account, click the Learn More button, or visit Tabs3.com/LawPay.

Click the Enable LawPay button to open the LawPay window and enable Tabs3 Billing to access your LawPay Account.

Note: Tabs3 Pay™ and LawPay integration cannot be enabled at the same time. Enabling LawPay integration will automatically disable Tabs3 Pay integration.

Click the Disable LawPay button to disable LawPay integration with Tabs3 Billing.

Note: If you have unused LawPay online payment links, LawPay must remain enabled in order for the Import Online Payments program to download online payments made via LawPay. Once all of your existing payment links have expired (90 days after being sent), you can safely disable LawPay integration.

Once you have enabled LawPay, the following options are available:

  Allow for Payments

Merchant Account Configuration

There are two options for configuring LawPay merchant accounts: Simple Mode and Advanced Mode. If you want to use a single LawPay merchant account for the entire firm, Simple Mode will allow you to select a LawPay merchant account for that purpose. If you want to configure multiple merchant accounts and assign them to timekeepers or locations, then you must use Advanced Mode. You can toggle between these modes by clicking the Switch to Advanced Mode / Switch to Simple Mode buttons.

Note: You cannot switch to Simple Mode if any merchant accounts other than a firm-level merchant account have been configured.

Simple Mode

Select the LawPay account you want to use as your firm’s merchant account in the LawPay Bank Account field.

Advanced Mode

In Advanced Mode, all of the merchant accounts that have been configured in Tabs3 Billing are displayed.

To add a new merchant account, click the Add button to open the LawPay Account Setup window.

To modify an existing merchant account, select the account and then click the Edit button to open the LawPay Account Setup window.

To remove an existing merchant account, select the account and then click the Remove button. A window will be displayed prompting you to confirm that you want to delete the selected account. Click Yes to delete the account or click No to retain the account.

Warning: The same Merchant Account configuration is used for both Tabs3 Billing Payments and Client Funds transactions. Therefore, be aware that deposits will be made to the same bank account for both types of transactions.

Accepting credit cards for Client Funds Deposits in Tabs3 Billing is designed for use with non-refundable amounts. We recommend using the Tabs3 Trust Accounting (Trust) if you need to accept credit card transactions for client trust accounts.

Note: This feature is not available with Trial Version software, software with a demo serial number, or when using the sample data provided with Tabs3 Billing.
