Merchant Account
Tabs3 uses the term “merchant account” to refer to a pass through account with a processor (i.e., Tabs3 Pay®, LawPay®, or LexCharge®) configured to receive electronic payments (e.g., credit cards or eChecks). Once an electronic transaction has been processed, it is deposited into the bank associated with the merchant account. Merchant accounts can be configured in Tabs3 Billing for Tabs3 Pay, LawPay, or LexCharge.
Most firms use a single merchant account for payments and client funds deposits in Tabs3 Billing. However, firms that need to deposit electronic payments into separate bank accounts based on timekeeper or location can create multiple merchant accounts within the software.
With Tabs3 Pay, each merchant account has a unique API Key. Additional merchant accounts are added manually using their API Keys.
With LawPay, a merchant account is defined by selecting a LawPay account and then selecting a bank account associated with the specified LawPay account.
With LexCharge, each merchant account has its own separate credentials (i.e., Merchant ID, User ID, and Password).
If you need to deposit electronic payments to multiple bank accounts, contact the payment processor to create the additional merchant accounts.
