The Zoom dialog box is accessed via the Zoom button in the Preview window. The settings in this dialog box allow you to control how large or small a report appears in the Preview window. You can enlarge the display to make the report easier to read, or reduce the display in order to view the entire report width. This feature is particularly useful because the Preview window initially displays information based on the printed output. The Zoom dialog box lets you change the print preview so the information looks better when viewing it on your screen.

The zoom can be adjusted by a percentage or font size. Various preset values can be selected or you can specify your own percentage or screen font size by selecting the Other option. Percentages must be listed in whole percentages (10% - 6400%) and screen font sizes can be specified in tenths of a point (5.0 point - 72.0 point). Changes are shown immediately, making it easy to select the desired screen font size.

The actual change shown will vary depending on the font being used. TrueType proportional fonts exhibit the best scaling behavior, whereas non-TrueType and monospaced fonts will not scale as well.

Note: The font size specified here affects the displayed information only and does not affect the printed output.

The Fit to Window option lets the software automatically select the appropriate font size whenever a report is previewed based on the report width and window width. This option selects a font that allows the entire report width to fit within the width of the current preview window.

Selecting the Make Default check box allows the value to be saved to the STI.INI file for subsequent sessions for the current workstation. If the Make Default check box is cleared, then the font size will default to the fonts specified for the default printer for the current workstation.

Note: Changes affect the current report only unless the Make Default check box is selected.

The OK button closes the Zoom dialog box and saves the information to the STI.INI file if the Make Default check box is selected.

The Cancel button closes the Zoom dialog box without making any changes.

Tip: Consider increasing your screen resolution to improve how the reports are displayed in the Preview window.

Additional keyboard and mouse zoom controls can be used to change how large or small a report appears in the Preview window.
