By default, Tabs3 Pay™ is configured to use a single firm-level merchant account. Additional merchant accounts can be configured for individual locations, and/or for individual timekeepers. At least one merchant account must be configured for credit card processing to occur.

When multiple merchant accounts have been defined, Tabs3 Billing will use the client’s information to determine which merchant account will be used when processing a credit card transaction.

Note: See the Merchant Account Types topic for more information regarding Firm, Location, and Timekeeper merchant accounts, and how Tabs3 Billing determines which account to use.

   To configure additional merchant accounts

  1. From the Utilities menu, select Customization.
  2. Click the Tabs3 Pay tab. If the tab is in Simple Mode, click the Switch to Advanced Mode button.
  3. In the Tabs3 Pay Account field, select the Tabs3 Pay account you want to use. If you want to add another Tabs3 Pay Account, click the Add link and paste the API Key for the account you want to add. See Knowledge Base Article R11869, “Configuring Tabs3 Pay,” for the steps needed to obtain your Tabs3 Pay API Key.
  4. In the Use For field, select whether you want to use the account as a Firm, Location, or Timekeeper account.
    1. If you selected Location, select the location you want to assign to the account in the Location field.
    2. If you selected Timekeeper, select the timekeeper you want to assign to the account in the Primary Timekeeper field.
  5. In the Bank Account field, select the bank account you want to use. Only bank accounts associated with the selected Tabs3 Pay Account are listed here.
  6. Click OK to save the merchant account information.

Warning: The same Merchant Account configuration is used for both Payments and Client Funds transactions. Therefore, be aware that deposits will be made to the same bank account for both types of transactions.

Electronic payment processing for Client Funds Deposits is designed for use with non-refundable amounts. You must use Tabs3 Trust Accounting (Trust) if you need to accept credit card transactions for Tabs3 Pay trust bank accounts.
