| Statement # |
Maximum of 9 digits (1-999999999) or blank. The Statement # field allows you to specify the updated statement you want the payment applied towards.
This field will be used in instances where a client has specified that a payment is to apply to a particular statement. If you enter a statement number and the payment amount exceeds the statement's due amount or the client's total due amount, the excess will be applied according to the client's Method to Apply Payments. The Statement # field is optional. Leaving the Statement # field blank will apply the payment according to the client's Method to Apply Payments.
The
button can be used to open the Statement Ledger Lookup
window that allows you to view a list of statements and select a statement by double-clicking it.
Note: If the statement number entered does not have a current balance due (i.e., the statement has a credit balance or payments have paid off the balance since the statement was updated), a message stating that the statement number was not found will be shown.
Note: After specifying a statement number, the accounts receivable figures shown at the bottom of the window will reflect the due amounts for that statement only. Current work-in-process payments will be applied to the amounts.
Note: If a payment record was created by applying a payment to multiple matters, and only applied to a single statement for the matter, that statement number will be specified in the Statement # field. If the payment was applied to multiple statements, the Statement # field will be left blank.
