The Advanced Options window is used to manage values related to how the Client Name and Client IDs are synchronized to NetDocuments. These options are generally not changed once client records have been synchronized to NetDocuments. Contact Tabs3 Support before changing any settings in this window.

Field to use for the Client Description

This setting determines whether to use the Client Name (Last/First) or Client Full Name in the NetDocuments Client Description field.

Note: Changes to this setting do not apply to existing clients. To update the NetDocuments Client Description for existing clients, click the Sync Now button in the Update NetDocuments section of the Firm Configuration tab.

Field to use for the Matter Type

This field must be configured in PracticeMaster and requires a full PracticeMaster license.

Minimum number of digits to send for the Matter Number

This setting determines the minimum number of digits to send to NetDocuments for the Matter Number portion of the Client ID. This defaults to the current Matter Length value in Customization.

This field cannot be set lower than its current value (e.g., if the current value is “3”, it cannot be set to a value of “2” or “1”.) This prevents the Change Key Type utility from causing issues with NetDocuments Integration.

Note: This option is not available when Tabs3 Billing is configured for an Alpha Key Type.

Prepend zeros to Client Number up to X digits minimum

This setting determines whether to prepend zeros to the Client ID up to the specified number of digits. For example, if your firm is configured to prepend zeros up to 8 digits, client 100.01 would be displayed as 00000100.01 in NetDocuments. Prepending zeros can assist with sorting Client IDs numerically.

Note: This option is not available when Tabs3 Billing is configured for an Alpha or Mixed Key Type.
