The rule information is shown in a table at the bottom of the Fee Compensation Rules Table window. This table displays all of the rules currently set up for fee compensation timekeepers for the selected Client ID. Rules are processed in the order they are shown in the table. You can use Ctrl+Up or to move the highlighted rule up; likewise, you can use Ctrl+Down or to move the highlighted rule down.

All of the following information is defined for each rule via a Fee Compensation Rule window, which can be accessed using the New or Edit buttons in the Fee Compensation Rules Table window, or by double-clicking a rule or blank row in the table.

Timekeeper Maximum of 3 characters (1-999). For each rule, an individual timekeeper number is displayed in this field.

Note: A blank timekeeper number indicates the fee compensation percentage will be allocated to the Firm timekeeper.

Name For each rule, a timekeeper's name is displayed in this field.

Note: A timekeeper name of "FIRM" indicates the use of the firm timekeeper.

Type For each rule, a label of Primary, Secondary, or Originating is displayed in this field. Multiple rules for each type can be defined.

Note: When the Type field is blank, it indicates the use of the Firm timekeeper.

Receipt % For each rule, a percentage between 0.01 and 100.00 is displayed in this field. For example, 10.00 indicates the specified timekeeper will receive 10% of the total fee receipts taken from the designated working timekeepers.

Note: It is important to be aware that the rules are processed in a top-down manner based on the order they are shown in the table, particularly when the total Receipt % exceeds 100%.

Taken From For each rule, this field displays who the Receipt % is taken from. The values in this field can consist of the following:
ALL - All Timekeepers This label indicates the rule applies to receipts for all working timekeepers.
Selected This label indicates the rule applies to receipts for multiple working timekeepers and/or levels (i.e., 2 or more).
LVL - Timekeeper Level This label indicates the rule applies to receipts for all working timekeepers with the designated timekeeper level. The specified timekeeper level will be shown in the field.
  # - Timekeeper This label indicates the rule applies to receipts for an individual working timekeeper. The timekeeper number and name will be shown in the field.
Begin Date For each rule, a Begin Date can optionally be defined. The rule is only effective for updated statements with a statement date on or after the specified date in this field. For example, a Begin Date of 10/01/2026 allows the rule to be applied to statements that are updated with a statement date on or after 10/01/2026, but not statements that are updated with a statement date before October 2026.

Note: A Begin Date of mm/dd/yyyy indicates that a beginning date has not been defined.

Note: Fee compensation rules that include a statement date range can only be defined for clients whose Receipt Allocation by Invoice check box is selected. If a date range is defined, the dates are ignored when shared with a client whose Receipt Allocation by Invoice check box is cleared. It is important to be aware of this feature when modifying a Fee Compensation Rules Table to include a date range.

End Date For each rule, an End Date can optionally be defined. The rule is only effective for updated statements with a statement date on or before the specified date in this field. For example, an End Date of 10/31/2026 allows the rule to be applied to statements that are updated with a statement date on or before 10/31/2026, but not statements that are updated with a statement date after October 2026.

Note: An End Date of mm/dd/yyyy indicates that an ending date has not been defined.

From Amount For each rule that applies to receipts taken from All Timekeepers, a From Amount can optionally be defined. The From Amount indicates that a rule only applies when the total accumulated fee receipts for all working timekeepers has been reached. As soon as the total accumulated fee receipts exceeds the amount specified, the rule applies to any receipts for all working timekeepers. For example, a From Amount of $10,000 allows the rule to be applied to payments towards fees after a total in $10,000 payments for fees has been allocated to all working timekeepers.

Note: A From Amount of 0.00 indicates that this field has not been defined.

To Amount For each rule that applies to receipts taken from All Timekeepers, a To Amount can optionally be defined. The To Amount indicates that a rule only applies until the total accumulated fee receipts for all working timekeepers has been reached. Until the total accumulated fee receipts exceeds the amount specified, the rule applies to any receipts for all working timekeepers. For example, a To Amount of $300,000 allows a rule to be applied to payments towards fees before a total in $300,000 payments for fees has been allocated to all working timekeepers.

Note: A blank To Amount field indicates that an ending amount has not been defined.
