Enter a percentage between 0.0000% and 100.0000% of the main client's fees that will be distributed to the specified split matter. The total percentage for all split matters can exceed 100%; however, the percentage for an individual split matter cannot exceed 100%.

Note: If another split matter has the Remainder option selected for fees, you will not be allowed to enter a percentage that makes the Total Fees figure exceed 100%.

Note: When the Perform Split Billing program is run, the dollar amounts will be split using the percentages entered in the Fees field for each split matter. However, when the total percentages are less than 100% or exceed 100%, the hours of the fee transactions will be split on a prorated basis using these percentages so that the total number of hours of the resulting transactions will equal the number of hours on the original fee transaction.

For example, let's say client 400.00 is the main client and is also set to receive 50% of the fees. Client 400.01 is set up as a split matter and is to receive 25% of the fees. Client 400.00 has one transaction in work-in-process for 1 hour with an amount of $100.00. After the Perform Split Billing program is run, client 400.00 will have one transaction with an amount of $50.00 (.50 x $100.00) and .67 hours [(.50 divided by .75) x 1 hour]. Client 400.01 will have one transaction with an amount of $25.00 (.25 x $100.00) and .33 hours [(.25 divided by .75) x 1 hour].
