Archiving is automatic in Tabs3 Billing and provides a means of storing historical data separate from the current data. Fees, costs, payments and client funds transactions are archived. When final statements are updated, Tabs3 moves the transactions that were billed on final statements from the main work-in-process data files to the archive files. This reduces the number of transactions in the main data files so that access times are faster while still keeping the updated transactions accessible. The archived information is accessed by various features in Tabs3 Billing.

There is no limit to the number of archive records. Archive files are ODBC compatible.

Whenever a client is deleted, transactions for the deleted client are also deleted. The Archive Integrity Check needs to be run on a regular basis to verify the integrity of the archive files.

Technical Note: The archive files used by Tabs3 are named T3ARCH.DAT and T3ARCH.IDX.

Note: If a client is given a courtesy discount when the client is billed, each archived fee transaction's amount will be reduced to include the courtesy discount (prorated).
