This program is used to test the archive files for valid information and structure. It is recommended that the Archive Integrity Check be run on a monthly basis and also prior to backing up the archive files. In addition, this program needs to be run if a hardware failure occurs while using Tabs3 Billing (i.e., power failure, power surge, etc.).
The Archive Integrity Check program only checks the integrity of the archive files. The reason for this is that archive files can require a significant amount of time to check and are not typically updated on a daily basis. To check the integrity of the other Tabs3 Billing files, run the Data File Integrity Check program.
The Tabs3 Billing Archive Integrity Check has the following option:
| Read Only |
When run with the Read Only check box selected, this task can be
run while other users are using the software. It takes longer to run the Archive Integrity Check when
the Read Only check box is selected.
When run with the Read Only check box cleared, this task is considered Read/Write and requires exclusive access to the data files. Some minor errors are corrected and additional errors may be detected when run in this mode. In order to make these corrections, changes are written to the data files therefore requiring that no other users be accessing the software. |
Note: If you are running the Archive Integrity Check due to possible data corruption, clear the Read Only check box and have all users exit the program prior to running the Archive Integrity Check program.
The OK button will start the Archive Integrity Check. The Archive Data Integrity Check window will display various record counts and the number of errors (if any) as well as the progress of the program. If errors are found during the integrity check, the Print dialog box will be displayed allowing you to generate an Error Report showing information about the error(s).
The Cancel button can be used to stop the process once it has started. Canceling the Archive Integrity Check does not affect your data files in any way. If you click Cancel, you will be asked to confirm that you want to abort the task. If any errors have been encountered before aborting, the Print dialog box will be displayed allowing you to generate an Error Report showing information about the error(s).
Note: When previewing the Archive Integrity Check Error Report, it may appear to have drill-down capabilities. However, clicking on a field will display a message "This task cannot be started because an exclusive task is active."
