This program is used to test Tabs3 Billing data files for valid information and structure. It is recommended that the Data File Integrity Check be run on a monthly basis and also prior to all backups. In addition, this program can be run if a hardware failure occurs while using Tabs3 Billing (i.e., power failure, power surge, etc.).

The Data File Integrity Check program does not check the integrity of the archive files. The reason for this is that archive files can require a significant amount of time to check and are not typically updated on a daily basis. The Archive Integrity Check program can be used to check the integrity of the archive files.

Note: The Data File Integrity Check does not check report definitions or the report definition table of contents file.

The Tabs3 Data File Integrity Check window has the following options:

Last Completed Check

Date

Displays the date and time of the last completed Data File Integrity Check.

Process Time

Displays the elapsed time for the last completed Data File Integrity Check.

Result

Displays the result of the last completed Data File Integrity Check. If errors were encountered during the scan, a link to view the PDF version of the Data File Integrity Check Error Report will be shown.

Note: Links to the PDF versions of the last five Data File Integrity Check Error Reports with errors are maintained in the Support Log.

Options

Full Scan (exclusive)

When run with this option selected, this task requires exclusive access to the data files. Some minor errors are corrected and additional errors may be detected when run in this mode. In order to make these corrections, changes are written to the data files therefore requiring that no other users be accessing the software.

Limited Scan (read only)

When run with this option selected, this task can be run while other users are using the software. It takes longer to run the Data File Integrity Check when running a limited scan because the program does not have exclusive access to the data files.

Note: If you are running the Data File Integrity Check due to possible data corruption, select the Full Scan (exclusive) option and have all users exit the program prior to running the Data File Integrity Check program.

The Start button will begin the Data File Integrity Check. The Data File Integrity Check window will display various record counts and the number of errors (if any) as well as the progress of the scan. If errors are found during the integrity check, an Error Report will be shown which contains information about the error(s).

The Close button will exit the Data File Integrity Check window without performing a scan.

The Cancel button can be used to stop the process once it has started. Canceling the Data File Integrity Check does not affect your data files in any way. If you click Cancel, you will be asked to confirm that you want to abort the task. If any errors have been encountered before aborting, an Error Report will be shown which contains information about the error(s).
