| To |
The To field in the Email Preview window is a unique email field that allows a different character limit based on whether one or more email addresses are defined in the field.
- If one email address is entered in the To field, the name allows a maximum of 50 characters, and the email address allows a maximum of 100 characters.
- If multiple email addresses are entered in the To field, a total of 100 characters can be entered, including names and email addresses.
The content of this field is retrieved from the Bill To record, however, a comma can be used to separate additional email addresses. Modifying the To field will affect the recipient listed on the Email Statements Report and the Email Statements Verification List.
A common mistake is thinking that you can enter additional email addresses in the To field by entering a comma before each address. Email addresses in the To field must be entered differently than those in the Cc and Bcc fields.
The software will populate the To field based on Bill To record information, and the contents will be entered in the following format: "Contact Name" <email@servername.com>. To enter additional email addresses, enter a comma followed by the desired email address within chevrons. For example:
"John Williams" <jwilliams@yahoo.com>, "Sally Jones" <sjones@jonesassoc.com>
If you want to be able to include more email addresses, consider removing the names. For example, in order to add a new recipient, you can change the above example to:
<jwilliams@yahoo.com>, <sjones@jonesassoc.com>, <mjensen@andersonlaw.com>
Alternatively, consider entering the additional email addresses in the Cc or Bcc fields, which allow up to 1,000 characters and do not require chevron characters around the email addresses. For example:
sjones@jonesassoc.com, mjensen@andersonlaw.com
Note: Email addresses in the To field are populated within < > characters. Names are defined within " " characters. If the default chevrons and quotation marks are removed from the name and email address, the email address may not be read properly by the software, potentially causing send errors.
