Select the desired option from the drop-down list. The statement number prints on the statements, various reports and is included in lookup windows. Reports that show the statement number include the Pre-Update Statements Report, Update Statements Verification List, Client Ledger Report and the Accounts Receivable by Invoice Report.

Firm Level

Select Firm Level if you want one series of statement numbers for the entire firm. When running statements, you will be asked to enter the Beginning Statement Number. The last statement numbers used (both beginning and ending) will be displayed. When selecting Firm Level, keep the following in mind:

  • Every time a final statement run is completed (regardless of whether the statements are updated), Tabs3 saves the beginning and ending statement number.
  • When final statements are run, Tabs3 retrieves the last beginning and ending statement numbers saved.
  • The default beginning statement number is the highest statement number used plus "1."
  • When selecting the beginning statement number for draft statements, simply accept the default. Tabs3 does not save the beginning and ending statement numbers when draft statements are run.

Note: When statements are numbered at the firm level, a client can be selected by specifying a statement number when entering payments.

Network Note: If you are configured to number statements at the firm level and you have multiple users running final statements, Tabs3 will prevent duplicate statement numbers from being used. Because of this, statements printed by one user may not be in sequential order. For example, if two users are printing statements simultaneously, one user may have statements numbered 1000, 1001, 1003, 1005 and the other user may have statements numbered 1002, 1004, 1006.

Client Level Select Client Level if you want an individual series of statement numbers that begin with "1" for each client.

Note: When rerunning a final statement for a client, you can select to use the statement number shown on the original final statement. It is important to realize that duplicate statement numbers and gaps in statement number sequences can occur when rerunning final statements if you do not select this option.

Note: When changing the Statement Numbering option from Client Level to Firm Level, be absolutely sure that the beginning statement number specified when running statements is larger than any statement number previously used for any client. Otherwise, duplicate statement numbers may result.
