The Bill Code indicates whether the transaction is billable or non-billable (no charge) and the printing status. Type the desired Bill Code or select it from the drop-down list. Valid Bill Codes consist of:

0 - Billable / Printable

1 - Non-Billable / Non-Printable

2 - Non-Billable / Printable

3 - Billable / Non-Printable

4 - Billable / Always Print

Note: A Bill Code of "0" (Billable/Printable) is the only Bill Code allowed when entering credit transactions.

Note: The default Bill Code is based on the Bill Code found in the transaction code file. However, if the client is non-billable and the transaction code is set up as billable, then the Bill Code will automatically be changed to "2" (Non-Billable/Printable). Billable costs cannot be added for a non-billable client.

Example of When to Use a Bill Code of "4": If a Statement Template with a Summary Expense Format or Advance Format is used, then a Type 4 (description only) transaction will print on the statement with the total amount from all Type 0 (normal) and Type 5 (miscellaneous) transactions. However, if you want one or more transactions to be printed as separate line items, then use a Bill Code of "4" (Billable/Always Print) for those transactions.
