Maximum amount of 99,999,999.99. The Retainer Amount field is used in conjunction with One Time Retainer clients. This field is not available unless the One Time Retainer check box is selected. When the One Time Retainer check box is selected, a line will print at the end of the Client Funds section of the statement asking the client to remit the amount shown in the Amount to Bill field.

Note: This field is changed to Minimum Balance if the One Time Retainer check box is cleared.

When setting up the client, enter the full retainer amount you want billed in the Retainer Amount and Amount to Bill fields. Whenever a deposit is made to client funds for a One Time Retainer client, the Amount to Bill field will be correspondingly reduced by the deposit amount. Whenever a statement is run, the current Amount to Bill will be included in a line at the end of the statement asking the client to remit that amount. Once the full retainer amount has been paid, the Amount to Bill will have been reduced to zero and the client will not be billed for additional client funds.

The Retainer Amount field optionally prints on the Client Funds Report and is used as a reference when viewing the A/R & Fund Balances tab of the Client file. However, this field is not used in any calculations.

Note: If entering a Fund Balance when first setting up the client, The Amount to Bill will be correspondingly reduced by that amount. For example, if a $10,000 retainer is required and the client pays an initial deposit of $6,000, you would enter $6,000 in the Fund Balance, $10,000 in the Retainer Amount and $4,000 in the Amount to Bill.

The "<" and ">" keys can be used to increase or decrease the amount by one dollar at a time.
