Turns on or off the automatic expansion of text macros. There may be situations where you do not want to have text macro keywords replaced with the corresponding text. In these situations, you could turn off the automatic expansion.

You can turn the automatic expansion of text macros on or off by selecting the Auto Text Expansion option from the shortcut menu. The on or off status is indicated by the word MACRO in the status bar. The status is also saved in each workstation's STI.INI file for subsequent sessions.

Tip: There may be times when you want to disable automatic text macro expansion. For example, let's say the Auto Text Expansion option is enabled. If you want to type the Macro ID "ASAP" without having it expanded, you can type "ASAP" and then press Ctrl+Spacebar. The text will not be expanded and the Auto Text Expansion option will remain enabled. Conversely, you can expand a text macro when the Auto Text Expansion option is disabled. For example, let's say the Auto Text Expansion option is disabled. You can type "ASAP" and then press Ctrl+Spacebar to expand the "ASAP" macro. The Auto Text Expansion option will remain disabled.

IntegrationNote: Changing the Auto Text Expansion may affect the setting in PracticeMaster for the workstation. For example, if you disable this setting in Tabs3 while PracticeMaster is already open, the setting will not be affected in the current PracticeMaster session. However, if you close PracticeMaster, close Tabs3 and then restart PracticeMaster, the setting will be disabled in PracticeMaster also. Whichever system is closed last (i.e., writes to the STI.INI file last) determines how the setting will be read the next time a Tabs3 or PracticeMaster system is opened.
