There are three options available if you have selected One-across labels for the Output Format. The responses to these questions can be saved as defaults for the next time the program is run if a report definition is saved - preferably as the default definition for the labels program.

Number of Printable Characters Across Label

Number of Printable Lines on a Label

Number of Lines Between Labels

One-across Label Examples: If you are printing on 1 by 3 1/2 inch labels using a font that prints 12 characters per inch, you have a maximum of 42 printable characters (i.e., 3.5 x 12). However, it is a good idea to allow a left and right margin of 1 character. Therefore, you would enter 40 printable characters across the label (i.e., 42 minus 2), 5 printable lines on a label and 1 line between labels.

As another example, if you are printing on 2 by 4 inch labels using a font that prints 17 characters per inch, you could enter 50 printable characters across the label (i.e., the maximum allowed), 11 printable lines on a label and 1 line between labels.

Keep in mind that regardless of the font size selected when the labels are printed, the labels are printed using 6 lines per inch.
