| Reverse Write Off Overview |
The write off reversal process that Tabs3 Billing performs consists of two steps.
First, the client ledger records are updated. For every amount on every statement the write off applied to, the amounts are added back to the Due amounts. |
Second, a new ledger record is created in the client ledger file showing that the write off has been reversed. This record provides an internal audit trail of ledger activity that transpired for the client. The date on the write off reversal ledger record will be the same as the date of the original write off record and the amounts will be negative. |
Note: If a statement being reprinted using a Reprint Updated Statement utility has had a portion written off and then reversed using the Reverse Write Off utility, then the totals on the reprinted statement may not match the original totals.
Note: If the Reverse Write Off process is interrupted, you must restore from a backup.
Note: If a description only transaction was created during the original write off process, that transaction will be deleted when the write off is reversed.
Platinum Note: When using the Platinum edition of the software, you will not be asked to make a backup before running this process, nor is it necessary due to the Auto-Recovery feature.
GL Integration Note: When reversing a write off, reversing GL journal entries are created for all GL journal entries associated with the write off. If the original journal entries cannot be found, a message will be displayed asking if reversing journal entries should be made using the current integration settings. If you choose not to use the current settings, you may need to make manual journal entries in GL that reflect the reversed write off.
