| Rebuilding the Table of Contents |
The information shown in the Report Definition List and Report Suite List is stored in a single table of contents file. This file may need to be rebuilt if report definitions or report suites are manually added, edited, deleted or renamed via the operating system.
This function is typically not required by most users. An example of when rebuilding would be used is if a consultant prepared report definitions for your month-end and then created a report suite of all the definitions. If these report definitions and the report suite were created on the consultant's computer, the consultant would copy the *.T3D files (not the table of contents file) to a flash drive and then transfer those files to the Tabs3 current working directory on your computer. In order for the new report suite and report definitions to be shown in the Report Definition List and Report Suite List on your computer, the table of contents must be rebuilt.
After clicking the Rebuild button in the Report Definition List, the Report Suite List or the Report Suite Manager, the program looks for report definition and report suite files (*.T3D) in the Tabs3 current working directory. For report definitions, Tabs3 retrieves the report description, the type of report the definition was created for (e.g., Summary Accounts Receivable, Detail Work-In-Process, etc.) and User ID information. For report suites, Tabs3 retrieves the report suite name, description and User ID information. The table of contents file (WT3REP.TOC) is then updated to reflect this information.
