The Default Sort field allows you to specify an index to associate with this QuickView. When creating a new QuickView, if an index is currently associated with the current sort order of the list, that index will be the default value for this field. Otherwise, this field will default to the primary index for the file.
The 
button can be used to open the Select Index window that contains a list of indexes for this file.
The Indexes available to sort records vary depending on the List window.
