To use the Phone Dialer, Microsoft Phone & Modem must be configured for the workstation.

To configure Phone and Modem:

  1. From the Start menu, click Settings.
  2. In Find a setting, enter “Phone and Modem” and press Enter.
  3. If prompted, enter the calling rules for your location. This includes the Area Code, and if an access code is necessary for an outside line.
  4. Configure your dialer option:
    • If you are using a standard phone line, you can connect the phone line to your computer using a modem and Windows can dial it for you. Click the Modems tab and configure the installed modem.
    • If you are using a phone system with Click to Dial functionality, click the Advanced tab and install the TAPI driver from your provider.
  5. Click OK to close the Phone and Modem settings.

After configuring Phone and Modem, the Phone Dialer can be used to dial any phone number.
