Maximum of 120 characters. The default Description is the first 120 characters of the cost/payment Description field. Tabs3 will truncate the description at the last full word before the 120th character.

The description prints on the following GLS reports: Journal Entry Verification List, Journal Report, the General Ledger Report, Reconciliation Report, and Deposit Summary.

A Prefill feature makes it easy to populate all journal entries in a GLS transaction based on previous transactions. If an existing description is selected for the first journal entry in a transaction, you will be prompted to select whether to prefill the transaction based on previously entered transactions that match the description entered.

An Autofill feature is also available. Autofill allows you to select a previously used description for a new transaction. As characters are entered, Autofill offers a list of possible choices matching the characters entered based on previously saved descriptions for the specified account. You can press Esc to clear the list of suggested descriptions. The Autofill feature is available for all journal entries added to a transaction.

Tip: Hovering over the Description field will display a tooltip with the full description text.
